Bead Curtain Charm Tutorial

Note: Extra beads, crimp beads and string have been provided to each kit.

  1. Place all materials on a flat area, preferably fabric. Pliers, thread cutters/scissors and 3 trays will be used to complete this kit.
  2. Pour the coloured beads into one tray.
  3. Pour the transparent beads and crimp beads into the second tray.
  4. Place the clasp, metal bar and jump ring on to the third tray. Place the beading needle on the side.
  5. Remove the bead strings from the paper and lay flat to the side.
  6. Begin by taking 1 string and thread the first bead from the first column of the pattern (starting from the bottom).
  7. Bring both ends of the string together by folding the string. The first bead should be hanging in the middle of the fold.
  8. Open the beading needle and thread both ends of the string together into the bead needle.
  9. Place the strings to the end of the beading needle so the string does not move.
  10. Reference the pattern on top of the box and continue to thread all the beads starting from the second bead of the first column. Place beads from bottom to top of the column.
  11. Thread a single transparent bead and a single crimp bead. Crimp beads are last.
  12. Remove the beading needle.
  13. Take pliers and crimp the crimp bead just half 1mm above the transparent bead.

Note: Be sure to leave slack to mitigate tension. If too tight, the beads will not naturally fall on the curtain bar. Below is an example where the beads are too tight.
  14. Tie the two top strings together securely two times. Do not pull extremely tight.
  15. Snip the excess thread close to the knot.
  16. Take the finished column and gently slide in the transparent bead through the bar. Drag it gently to the other end of the bar.
  17. Repeat step 6-16, do this 8 more times.
  18. Once all of the columns have slid in, gently take your pliers to close the right tab of the bar or press the bar on its end against a table to close it.
  19. Take your jump ring and open it with pliers.
  20. Put the jump ring through top loop of the bar.
  21. Take the clasp and join it with the jump ring with pliers.
  22. Complete!
